why i created hygge me

supporting sensory processing and anxiety through the essence of hygge

Lights, sights, sounds and tastes have always directed my experience of the world causing me to seek and avoid in fluctuating abundance.

Although I didn’t fully understand what these differences were until they were identified in my children. Up until that point I felt utter frustration as to why I was always so physically unwell, tired and irritable. Through developing an understanding of my children I could then also develop a better understanding of myself. This sent me on a academic and spiritually journey of intensive study in my attempt to make sense of my world.

Along this journey I learnt that there were many women like me. Those of us who experience anxiety, stress or have had traumatic experiences. Those of us who experience the world through a heightened sensory plane.

Hygge Me was created so us sensitive souls can regulate and enjoy life in abundance. Hygge me offers us a place to relate, suggests ways to regulate and provides products that help create a feeling of inner and outer calm, so that together we can experience hygge.

Love to your sensory self,

I am Jessica Dark the creator of Hygge Me.

Hygge Me was created from a combination of my lived experience and continued professional development.

I am a Psychology graduate and hold a Postgraduate Certificate in Communication Science. I am currently completing a Masters Degree in Special Educational Needs and Inclusion as well as studying towards a British Psychology Society Certificate in Test Use (so I can provide you with a sensory profiling service early next year). In addition to my more formal qualifications I have completed training in Counselling, Neuro-linguistic Processing (NLP) and Reiki.

Throughout Hygge Me developments I draw from both what I have learnt through study and my lived experience of the world.

I regard myself as neurodiverse with my expression of difference categorised through Dyslexia, Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). I also experience very impacting sensory processing differences and high anxiety.

I believe that these categories work collectively to explain how my brain works but it does not fully encapsulate who I am as a person or how I experience my day to day life…

This is what I share with you through Hygge Me - I share my experience of the world with you combined with what I have learnt through study in hope that more people like me can find supports and strategies that work for them.

Please reach out and say ‘hello’ I would love to hear more about your experiences of Hygge Me products, articles and blogs,

Love to your sensory self,
